The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has been in production since about four decades now, making it one of the oldest SUVs in the Japanese carmaker’s global portfolio. Earlier this month, the manufacturer had confirmed that its plans to introduce a new generation version of the Land Cruiser Prado with a teaser capturing the silhouette of the model standing next to a Toyota FJ40 from the ’60s.

Now, Toyota has released another teaser of the vehicle, revealing a few crucial design elements and also confirming the global unveiling date. First things first, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will make its debut on August 1, 2023. The latest teaser images reveal a new light blue colour paint scheme, a chunky front grille with the ‘TOYOTA’ lettering, bold-looking rectangular headlamps, an aggressive front bumper as well as vertically-stacked LED tail lights.

Toyota hasn’t revealed any details about the new-gen Land Cruiser Prado yet, but it has already been confirmed that the SUV will also be sold in the United States for the first time. That said, we already know that the 2024 Land Cruiser Prado will be based on the new-gen Lexus GX that made its global debut about two month ago.

The new-gen Prado will be based on the same ladder-frame GA-F platform as the GX, and will also likely make use of the same powertrain. For now, the Lexus GX gets a sole 3.4-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine that puts out 349 hp of maximum power and 649 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox, with a full-time 4WD. Lexus had also announced that a hybrid powertrain will be introduced for the US market, which could possibly make its way to the Land Cruiser Prado too.
