In a bold move to compete with Elon Musk’s X and Mark Zuckerberg’s Threads, formerly known as Twitter, TikTok has introduced a new feature that allows users to post text-only content for the first time. The popular video streaming platform aims to expand options for creators to share their ideas and creativity through written expression. With the introduction of text posts, TikTok says it is creating a dedicated space for written creativity, including stories, poems, recipes, and other forms of written content. Users can customise their text posts by adding sound, stickers, background colours, and other features to make their posts more engaging and expressive.

One of the most significant challenges to Elon Musk’s X platform comes in the form of TikTok’s text posts, as users can now tag other accounts and add relevant hashtags, tapping into trending topics and enhancing discoverability and engagement.

Notably, TikTok’s competition in the social media landscape has been further amplified by Meta, the parent company of Facebook, which recently launched Threads, a rival social media site. Threads gained impressive traction with over 100 million user sign-ups in its first week, as claimed by Zuckerberg.
