In the world of music, controversies are not uncommon, and they often add an intriguing layer to an artist’s career. One such controversy that is making headlines currently is related to singer Shubh and his canceled India Music Tour. It was an event that promised to be a grand celebration of music but ended up mired in controversy.
It all started in March when Shubh shared a distorted map of India on his Instagram story. In the post, the map didn’t have regions like Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir. Accompanying the image was a caption that read, “Pray for Punjab.” This swiftly sparked criticism and allegations of tacitly supporting the Khalistani movement.
He started getting backlash from different corners, and as it gained momentum, Shubh later removed the map from his Instagram story. In its place, he posted a simpler message that solely stated, “Pray for Punjab,” devoid of any accompanying visual element. While this alteration might have been an attempt at damage control, the initial post had already ignited significant scrutiny and raised questions about his stance regarding the Khalistan issue, leading to many issues, one being the cancellation of Shubh’s India Music Tour.
Initially, Shubh didn’t react. His sponsors backed away, leading cricketers of India unfollwed him on social media, and he received a lot of flake. Finally, the artist has broken his silence over the matter. Taking to his social media story he wrote that as a young artist from Punjab, it was his dream to pin his music on the global map. However, the recent events have left him in a state of grief and he wishes to express himself.
He confessed to being excited about the whole tour, and talked about the preparation, but unfortunately, fate had other plans. He further quoted that India is his country too, as he was born here. He expressed that he is proud to be a Punjabi and whatever he is today, he owes that to his land.

On the one hand, where a segment of the internet and many other people stood against Shubh, many artists from the Punjabi entertainment world showed their support for the artist.

Sidhu Moose Wala’s team posted a story on the late singer’s official handle. The post mentioned that the hatred among the Sikh community is rising day by day. Without any substantial evidence, Sidhu was called a terrorist, and the same things are being done with Shubh as well. Here’s the exact post shared by Sidhu Moose Wala’s team

AP Dhillon who usually stays away from social media negativity also came in support of Shubh and wrote a beautiful story for him. He said public figures are being used as chess pieces for promoting agendas, and thus, as an artist, it becomes difficult to focus on the craft.
