Royal Enfield clocks 32% growth in July 2023 despite drop in exports - Times of India

Royal Enfield has clocked a total sales number of 73,117 motorcycles in the month of July this year. This is a 32 percent increase over the same period last year when the company sold 55,555 motorcycles. Out of these 73,117 motorcycles, 66,062 were sold in the domestic market while the remaining 7,055 were exported. Comparing these figures to the ones posted in July 2022 paints a contrasting picture. While the two-wheeler manufacturer has seen a sharp 42 percent rise in domestic sales, the exports have dropped by 22 percent.

While the most recent new model in the company’s lineup is the Super Meteor 650, it is the Hunter 350 that has been in the limelight lately. The Hunter 350 was launched in August of last year and has since sold over 2 lakh units. With a starting price of Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the Hunter 350 is currently the most affordable model in the company’s present lineup. It differs from most other Royal Enfield motorcycles due to its modern design scheme and youthful approach.
The automaker is planning to continue its good form with more launches in the short term as B Govindarajan, CEO, Royal Enfield said, “We’ve begun the second quarter on a strong note, after stellar performance in the first quarter of this year. We are preparing for some big launches in the forthcoming months, and continue to focus on our strategic long term goals”
The first of these new products is slated to arrive by the end of August. While the company has not specified the name of the new launch, we suspect it to be the return of the popular Bullet moniker. Bullet has been a key player in the success of Royal Enfield in India and it would be interesting to see how the new avatar of the bike would fare in a world with more classic motorcycles than ever.
