In today’s world, it’s not uncommon to see people doing dangerous road stunts for the sake of Instagram reels. By doing this, people not only break the traffic laws but also put their own and others’ lives at risk.
In a similar case from Varanasi, two youngsters, who were allegedly filming a stunt-reel on a flyover, lost control of their “new bike”. The motorcycle then stumbled on the bridge and eventually fell off it, landing on a moving car underneath it.
As per the local police, the riders, said to be a young boy and a girl, fled away from the scene, leaving behind their motorcycle without any registration number plates. On the other hand, the driver of the car on which the motorcycle fell, lost his life while his friend was injured severely and has been admitted to local hospital.

The deceased was identified as Sarvesh Shankar, a railway engineer. He suffered head injuries and died on the spot while his friend Aditya Verma was rushed to a nearby hospital. A case has been registered against the missing perpetrators and the search is underway.
This accident brings our attention back to road safety hazards caused by irresponsible riders and drivers in India. There has been a surge in the number of accidents where people have been putting their lives at risk for creating social media content. These videos might bring a few views or engagement on the internet but it is also a serious threat to life as well as a violation of law as roads are meant for responsible commute, not for performing stunts.
