Indian automotive industry witnessed many launches and unveils in the first half of 2023. The second half of this year too will be packed with action and major automakers will be launching their products. In this article, let’s take a look at expected car launches in August 2023.

1. Mercedes-Benz GLC
The first car on the list is Mercedes-Benz GLC. The company recently opened the bookings for the SUV at Rs 1.5 lakh and will be launched on August 9th 2023. The new GLC will be available with two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbopetrol and a 2.0-litre turbo diesel. Both engines will get a 48V integrated starter motor and 4Matic AWD system.

The GLC will get two screens for infotainment system and for infotainment system. It will feature a 12.3-inch unit for the instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen with new NT7 interface. The new Mercedes-Benz GLC will be larger in dimensions than the outgoing model, which means it will offer more cabin and boot space.
2. Audi Q8 e-tron, Q8 e-tron Sportback
The next car on the list is Audi Q8 e-tron and Q8 e-tron Sportback. The electric SUV recently made its debut in India will be launched on August 18th 2023. The Q8 e-tron gets a redesigned grille with new mesh design and Audi’s new monochrome logo. It also gets a light bar that projects the light downwards. The EV SUV gets matrix LED headlights and a reprofiled front bumper with larger air intakes on both sides.

In terms of dimensions, the new Q8 e-tron measures 4915 mm in length, 1935 mm in width, 1633 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2928 mm. At rear, both SUVs get connecting LED taillamps, redesigned bumper and new Q8 badges on the tail-gate. The Q8 e-tron get aerodynamically designed 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped up in Bridgestone tyres. The alloy wheels also feature spinning Audi logo in the centre.

The Audi Q8 e-tron gets 569 litres of boot space. Fold the rear seats down and the Q8 e-tron gives you 1,637 litres. The SUV also gets an electric tailgate. The interior layout of the new Q8 e-tron is similar to outgoing e-tron. Features include powered front seats with ventilation and massage funaction, 16-speaker Bang and Olufsen speaker system, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, four-zone climate control and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

The EV gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with haptic feedback. It gets Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car tech and more. Below it gets 8.6-inch screen for controlling the HVAC. The Q8 e-tron gets a 114kWh battery pack that has a range of up to 600km (WLTP cycle). It gets two electric motors that puts out 408hp and 664Nm of torque.
3. Tata Punch CNG
Tata Motors recently launched the Tata Altroz CNG hatchback to the Indian market and now the company is getting ready to launch the Tata Punch CNG. The company first showcased both CNG models at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo and the Punch CNG will be the fourth CNG model after Tiago, Tigor and Altroz. It is expected that Tata Motors will launch the Punch CNG in August 2023.

In terms of design, the Tata Punch CNG will look identical to the petrol counterpart. It will get projector headlamps with dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels and i-CNG badging on the tailgate. Similar to Altroz CNG, the Punch CNG will feature a split tank setup which allows the tanks to be fitted in the boot floor, which helps in not compromising the boot space. Each tank has a capacity of 30 litres. The regular variants of Tata Punch get 345 litres of boot space.

Talking about the powertrain, the Punch CNG will be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, NA engine which puts out 86 hp of power and 113Nm of torque. In CNG mode the engine puts out 77 hp of power and 97Nm of torque. The engine comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, there will be no automatic on offer.
4. Volvo C4O Recharge
Volvo Cars India recently introduced the C4O Recharge electric SUV to the Indian market. The C40 Recharge is the second electric car from Volvo in India after XC40 Recharge. In terms of design, the XC40 and C40 almost look identical. The C40 has a sloping roofline which gives it a coupe look. The electric SUV features pixel technology for its headlights. At the rear, it gets sleek tail lamps with a twin-pod roof spoiler which makes it look sporty.

The C40 Recharge gets frunk at the front and it also features a big boot at the rear rated at 413 litres. If the rear seats are folded it can be extended to 1205 litres. Moving on to the interior, the C40 Recharge has the same dashboard layout as the XC40 Recharge. Volvo claims that the C40 Recharge has a leather-free cabin, which is a first for a Volvo model.

The EV gets a vertical 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. In terms of features, it gets Google Android OS-powered infotainment system with built-in apps and digital services, a digital instrument display, wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, 360-degree camera and PM 2.5 air filter.

The C40 Recharge gets a 78kWh battery pack paired with twin electric motors which puts out 402bhp of peak power and 660Nm of torque. The EV has WLTP-claimed range of 530km. The C40 Recharge gets AWD tech and Volvo claims it can sprint from 0-100 kph in just 4.7 seconds. The EV also supports 150W fast charging and Volvo claims it can charge from 10-80% in 27 minutes.
