If you own Maruti Suzuki’s S-Presso micro-SUV or the Eeco MPV, then it would be a good idea to be careful while driving as the automaker has issued a recall for over 87,000 units of these models combined. The recall has been issued due to a faulty component in the steering setup of both the Maruti Suzuki cars. The fault reportedly affects vehicles built in the past couple of years. To address the issue in the affected vehicles, Maruti Suzuki has assured that owners of the S-Presso and Eeco will be contacted and asked to contact their nearest authorised dealer to get the issue resolved. As recalls go, owners can expect the replacement of parts and labour to be free of cost.

In terms of the fault itself, Maruti Suzuki has stated that 87,559 units of the micro-SUV and the MPV have a possible defect in the steering tie rod. The statement also warned that in rare cases, the tie rod may even break and hamper the vehicle’s steering and handling capabilities. Specifically, the S-Presso and Eeco models built between July 5, 2021, and February 15, 2023, suffer from faulty steering equipment.

This is a significant recall for Maruti Suzuki, as it is one of the biggest in recent times. Earlier in 2020, 1.34 lakh units of the WagonR and the Baleno were recalled for a faulty fuel pump before nearly two lakh units of various models got recalled for a faulty motor generator in 2021. While the S-Presso is a humble seller in terms of volume for Maruti Suzuki, the Eeco MPV is a staple is the top-selling in its segment in both private and commercial sectors. Maruti Suzuki has sold over 10 lakh units since it was first launched back in 2010.
